Storytelling Skills gives guidance on narrating a story in a confident,
individual way. The story may be traditional or personal.
Story Creation
encourages participants to make up and tell - or dramatise -
new stories.
The emphasis is on working in pairs, small
groups and one big group in a relaxed, cooperative and creative
atmosphere.
Both workshops
tend to bring people closer together, so are ideal for families,
groups and communities.
The adult ones are popular with parents,
grandparents, librarians, teachers, Sunday School teachers, actors
and people from different storytelling traditions who want to
preserve their heritage.
They are also useful for businesses and
organisations, where they can contribute to team-building and
help executives and administrators improve their leadership,
public speaking, communication and presentation skills.
They have also been used - with very positive
results - as therapy for adults with mental health difficulties.
Marguerite has facilitated many storytelling
workshops for primary school children, in classroom and outdoor
settings as well as in an Oxford museum.
Her workshops have been notably successful
with 'special needs' children.
